Recycle for Nuneaton and Bedworth

Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council have been awarded funding for a new recycling campaign for 2009/2010 by the Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP).  This funding has given the council a wide range of resources including funding for a new position within the recycling team to promote recycling.

The new recycling officer Sue Cummine will be working within the community to promote recycling and offer residents free advice and information about the best and most convenient way to recycle.  The funding has been able to provide the all-new recycling road show that will be taken to events around the Borough over the coming months.  The trailer and recycling team will be giving advice, giving away freebies, have fun with children’s activities and much more, so watch out for the recycling team at local events.

The campaign ‘Recycle for Nuneaton and Bedworth’ will be able to provide advice not only about the kerbside collection scheme, but also about waste minimisation, and other campaigns such as ‘Love food, Hate waste’.  The launch will be early June and their first major event will be at Nuneaton Carnival on Sunday 14 June.

The recycling team will also be teaming up with local businesses, community centres and youth groups to give talks to provide information.  If you are a local business, community centre or youth group and would like the recycling team to visit you, please contact Sue Cummine on (024) 76 376 025.

Councillor Nick Grant, Deputy Leader of the Council and Portfolio Holder for the Environment says:

“The new campaign is a fantastic opportunity to be able to talk to our residents about recycling and get involved in the community.  The funding has provided a brilliant promotional trailer that will be taken all across the Borough to be able to promote services that we provide.  Recycling figures continue to grow and with ‘Recycle for Nuneaton and Bedworth’ campaign about to launch, we hope to see the figures continue to rise.  Don’t hesitate to go over and say hello to the recycling team if you see them out and about.”

If you would any information about the trailer and its events, contact Sue Cummine on (024) 7637 6025.
