Public flock to Museum

Museum and Art Gallery, Riversley Park, Nuneaton
Nuneaton Museum and Art Gallery has announced its attendance figures for 2009 and the number has more than doubled from the amount of visitors who attended in 2008.

An incredible 77,209 people walked through the doors of the museum last year, a massive rise on the 49,525 who visited the attraction in 2008.  An exciting line-up of exhibitions, which included an area in the local History Gallery dedicated to the late Nuneaton born entertainer Larry Grayson, a variety of work from local and emerging artists and a host of entertainment provided in partnership with the Play Rangers have all helped to bring visitors to the attraction.

Cllr John Waine, who looks after the museum as part of his portfolio, said: “It is fantastic to see that the Museum and Art Gallery in Nuneaton has been so popular.  I am in no doubt that part of this success is down to the excellent entertainment facilities and events that have been provided by the Play Rangers, as well as the hard work and dedication of the museum staff.”

The announcement of the 2009 figures coincides with a consultation which is currently taking place to find out what residents of the Borough would like to see from the facility, taking into account the services currently on offer, and those that people would like to see.

Anyone interested in taking part in the consultation can drop into the museum and complete or questionnaire or, alternatively, complete a questionnaire online
