Staff at Nuneaton Museum and Art Gallery have been thrilled with the objects already received for their 1980s exhibition (21st July to 2nd September). However, we have compiled a wish list of items we would like everyone to be able to see in the exhibition. So check your attics, garages and closets for any of the below items.
The 1980s wish list includes;
1. 1980s wedding dress
2. A freestanding video arcade game
3. Duvet cover with matching curtains
4. Cassette player
5. Original walkman
6. Posters
7. Cabbage Patch doll
8. Any men’s clothes from the period
9. Fashion accessories
10. Fashion magazines
Councillor Neil Phillips, Cabinet member for Culture and Recreation said
“Having just moved into my 20’s in the early 80’s I must say that they were interesting times! A time when things were going to change for ever and well worth remembering good or bad. So this is a timely exhibition when we are already in 2007. Where did the years go? Do you have the things to bring back the past to share with the rest of the residents, clothes you save for fancy dress? I have a pair of Cuban heeled cowboy boots and rock posters, but not a cabbage patch doll, so why not help us show the public and the children that we do have history and lend them to this worthy exhibition. After all it is our lives and it is good to share.”
