Grove Farm Family Fun Day

Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council Crest
Community spirit was in the air last weekend as residents of Grove Farm got together for a Family Fun Day, which was supported by Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council.

Residents in the Grove Farm area received funding to help build the community, by training resident champions as well as running an event for everyone to get involved.  With the community keen to get involved, planning for the ‘Grove Farm Family Fun Day’ began, and the event took place on Saturday September 24th.

The smiles and laughter from everyone who attended was proof enough to the event organisers Grove Farm Community Centre, Kingswood Road Residents Association, and an army of volunteers, that the day was a huge success.

Children were treated to activities including face painting, and were able to get hands on with activities brought along for the day by Nuneaton Museum and Art Gallery, whilst for smaller children Park Lane Children’s Centre was on hand to entertain.

It wasn’t just for the children though, as the adults were keen to have a go on the smoothie bike brought along by the Nuneaton and Bedworth Leisure Trust as well as getting tips for a healthier lifestyle from the Healthy Living Network and the NHS.

Visitors to the event also had their chance to make a wish on the Wish Tree and tell the Council what they wanted to see in Grove Farm for the future.  Issues such as more parks, more children’s activities and cleaner streets were top of the agenda and provided food for thought for the residents and the local Council.

Cllr Tony Lloyd, cabinet member for Housing said:

“The event was a huge success and it is heart warming to see a community come together and enjoy such a fantastic day.  We will now be looking at the wishes residents have made for their area, and working with our partners look at how we can target the resources we have available to improve the quality of life for the community in Grove Farm”

One wish from the residents was very clear – they would like another Family Fun Day next year!
