Funding boost for Borough

Safer Communities Partnership Logo
The Nuneaton and Bedworth Safer Communities Partnership has been granted funding to help support an increased focus on anti-social behaviour on public open spaces in the Borough.

£41,700 of ‘Accelerated Partnership’ funding from the Home Office will be allocated to a range of partners to provide joined up provision in areas of concern within the Borough.

Activities will include sessions on the Multi-Use Games Areas by the Nuneaton and Bedworth Leisure Trust, joint interventions between the Fire Service, Police and Leisure Trust to combat incidents of arson on public open spaces and an increased Police presence to provide reassurance to communities experiencing anti-social behaviour, and conduct enforcement where necessary.

The initiatives will run from January – March 2010.

Councillor Bob Hicks, Chair of the Nuneaton and Bedworth Safer Communities Partnership, said:
“We are delighted with the Home Office for supporting our campaign against anti-social behaviour wherever it occurs in the Borough.  Our partnership is determined to improve the lives of law abiding citizens and this funding will help achieve this”

Adrian Knight, Chief Inspector of Nuneaton and Bedworth Police, said:
“This additional funding is extremely welcome and will assist the Police and other partners in delivering a number of enforcement and intervention initiatives across the Borough of Nuneaton and Bedworth.  Although we are having considerable success in tackling anti-social behaviour this funding will enable us to deliver a premium service to our communities.

“I must emphasise that this will not only be a Warwickshire Police initiative but will be a genuine multi agency approach to try and tackle the problems at an early stage and achieve sustainable results.  I look forward to working with Nuneaton and Borough Council, Leisure Trust, Warwickshire County Council and Warwickshire Fire and Rescue to tackle this issue together.”
