Festival of Arts returns
The exhibition will feature a wide variety of work all created by local photographers. Held in the Yellow gallery at Nuneaton Museum, artists of all ages have entered this exhibition. Prizes are awarded for each category. Come and see the results for yourself. Some entries will be available to buy.
All of the work has been judged by external professionals in photography organised by the Festival Committee. This year, the judges include local professional photographer Brian Wood who exhibited his solo show ‘Pictures All My Life’ in 2009 at Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery.
Councillor John Waine, Portfolio Holder for Recreation & Culture, said:
“Nuneaton Festival of Arts has become an essential part of the town’s heritage. I remember it from when I was at school, though I was never sufficiently talented to participate! However, I’m proud to have a couple of Third Place certificates from 1964, when I entered some of the photography classes.
“That the Festival has endured for over 60 years is a testament to the dedication of those volunteers who have helped to organise it, year after year, and to the high quality of the work submitted by local people of all ages. It is also a tribute to the support provided by our Museum & Art Gallery staff over the decades. The people of Nuneaton may feel proud that our town has been able to sustain such an important event for so long.”
The Festival of Arts began in 1948. Organised by a team of volunteers, the Festival offers an opportunity for both individuals and groups to show off their artistic talents.
Anyone interested in exhibiting in the Art Exhibition in March or the Needlecraft and Craft Exhibition in April can get details from free Festival of Arts Syllabuses, available to download from the Festival of Arts website. The syllabuses include information regarding the different classes that can be entered, delivery, collection and exhibition dates. For further information please visit the Festival of Arts website.
