Doing your bit for the environment will be getting even easier! Over the next two weeks Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council will be delivering the new recycling bags to residents, so that they can participate in the newly improved kerbside recycling scheme, making recycling even easier to do. Packs of the new bags will be hand-delivered to residents, along with a handy-sized leaflet on what can be collected on the scheme, and what material goes into which bag. The newly improved scheme will collect paper, magazines, junk mail and telephone directories in the reusable Blue Bag. Drinks cans, food tins, glass bottles and jars will continue to be collected in the Red Box. You will also receive a White Salvation Army bag for placing all your unwanted clothes which will be sent to the charity. The new addition is the collection of plastic and cardboard. A Yellow Bag will be contained within the new pack for residents to fill with their cardboard packaging and place at the side of the Red Box, ready for collection. This bag will be returned to the resident for future use. A roll of 52 Orange plastic sacks will be delivered with the pack, and these are for the collection of plastic. Ideally we would like residents to use one sack per week, and to place this out with their Red Box on collection day. The whole bag and contents will then be sent for recycling, so please include all your milk and water bottles; shampoo and detergent bottles; margarine tubs and yoghurt pots. For more information on what is collected on the scheme, view the Kerbside Recycling Guide. No envelopes or Tetrapack drinks cartons can be collected on the scheme. Tetrapacks are the cardboard styled liquid containers used for fruit juices and milk, and have a foil lining inside. These can be taken to Judkins Household Waste Site in Nuneaton for recycling. Councillor Geoff Ashford, Portfolio Holder for Health and the Environment says: “This scheme is making recycling easy for residents to participate in. Please look for the pack of bags being delivered to your household and remember that we cannot start collecting until 28th April. All your efforts are appreciated and please keep up the good work already achieved”. For Further Information Please Contact: Jo Loveday, Recycling and Environment Officer Tel: 024 7637 6025 Documents
