The Housing Options Team is able to give information and advice regarding your legal rights and
provide free and impartial advice and assistance on a wide range of housing issues.
 
Housing Options drop-in sessions are available, without an appointment, at the following times at
The Town Hall, Coton Road, Nuneaton:
 
Monday to Friday: 9.00 a.m. until 5.00 p.m.
 
If your situation is an emergency and you are faced with homelessness we will try and ensure that
a Housing Options Officer is available to see you during office hours.  A Housing Options Officer can
also be contacted during office hours on (024) 76376406.
 
Everyone has the right to information and advice that can help them find a home.  The type of help
and advice will depend on your circumstances.
 
You may find it helpful to come in and see a Housing Options Officer if:
 
  • You are living in privately rented accommodation and your landlord is asking you to leave
  • You are living with family or friends and they have asked you to leave
  • You have become, or think that you are likely to become homeless
  • You are experiencing domestic abuse
  • You are having difficulties paying your rent or mortgage
  • You would like information on accessing privately rented accommodation
 
When you come and see a Housing Options Officer it would be useful if you could bring all relevant documentation with you, such as:
 
  • Court papers
  • Tenancy agreement
  • Proof of identity for each member of the household
  • Proof of pregnancy
  • Proof of income
 
The Housing Options Officer will explore your housing options including:
 
  • Negotiating with landlord/parents/friends
  • Information on UChoose in order to apply for social housing
  • How to apply for shared ownership schemes
  • Private renting properties via the Bond Assistance Scheme
  • Supported Housing Schemes
 
The Housing Options Officer may also refer you to other specialist housing providers in the areas
such as:
 
    aged 16-25
    They also offer floating tenancy support for this group.
  • Fry Housing Trust – who offer supported accommodation to single males aged between 18-65
  • Chapter 1 – who offer supported accommodation for single males aged 18-65. 
    They also offer tenancy support for all households who would benefit.
    who are suffering domestic abuse
  • A local solicitor – for more in depth legal advice
