Under the notification of Cooling Towers and Evaporative Condensers Regulations 1992, persons in control of premises have a duty to notify the Local Authority in writing with details of 'notifiable devices'. Notifiable devices consist of cooling towers and evaporative condensers, except where they contain water that is not exposed to the air and the water and electricity supply are not connected. If a tower or evaporative condensers becomes redundant or dismantled, this should also be notified within one month of the change, in writing.
The prime purpose of Cooling Towers and Evaporative Condensers Regulations 1992 is to help in the investigation and control of legionnaires' disease

Will Tacit Consent Apply?
Tacit consent will apply.
If ‘tacit consent’ applies it means that an application is automatically approved if a decision is not made within the above decision period. You can act as though your device has been notified if you have not heard from the local authority by the end of the target completion period.
Public Register
Some applications will be recorded in a Public Register.
There is a register of Cooling Towers and Evaporative Condensers. This may be viewed at the Town Hall, Coton Road, Nuneaton, CV11 5AA. To arrange this please contact the Business Regulation and Support Team using the contact details provided above.
To appeal against decisions
An applicant whose application is refused or who objects to a condition attached to an approval has a right of appeal. An explanation of the right of appeal will be provided at the same time as the decision. If you need more advice about appeals please contact Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council using the details above in the first instance.
Consumer Complaints
If you need to make a consumer complaint about the trading standards of a business we always advise that you first contact the business - preferably in writing (with proof of delivery). If that has not worked, if you are located in the UK, Consumer Direct will give you advice. From outside the UK contact the UK European Consumer Centre.
If you need to complain about anything relation to a licence or approval granted to a business by the Council, please use the link at the top of the page to make your complaint.
Data Protection
Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council will take all the necessary steps to ensure that personal data held about its employees, customers, suppliers and other individuals is processed in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998
