Emergencies - How We Will Communicate With You

Communications - How we will communicate with you during an emergency

Emergency Scene
During an emergency we will do our best to communicate with you to let you know what is happening.  The responding organisations will work together to ensure that the same message will be communicated to you.  We will communicate with you in various ways but the best way is for you to listen to your local radio station.

If your life is in imminent danger then call the emergency services on 999.

If you are not in imminent danger:

  • Stay calm
  • Follow the advice of the emergency services
  • If not told to evacuate then go in to your home
  • Shut all doors and windows
  • Tune in to your local radio station
  • Follow any further advice issued
This can be remembered as:

Go in, Stay in, Tune in

Remember, in an emergency - stay calm and follow the advice of the emergency services.  If you are not in immediate danger in your home the GO IN, STAY IN, TUNE IN advice is recognised and used around the world.

There is an agreement with radio and TV companies that if there is a major emergency they will interrupt programming to give public safety advice and information about the incident, so that when you tune in locally or nationally anywhere in the UK you'll get the advice you need.

In Nuneaton & Bedworth you should tune to BBC Radio Coventry & Warwickshire (94.8 FM, 104 FM, 103.7 FM) or BBC Radio WM Birmingham (95.4 FM).
