Under the Zoo Licensing Act 1981 a zoo is defined as being an establishment where wild animals are kept for exhibition to which members of the public have access, with or without charge for admission, seven or more days in any period of twelve consecutive months.

- In order to issue the licence the authority will inspect the premises and consult other local agencies such as police, fire, planning authority etc.
Fees
- £522.50
- An application form must be submitted together with the correct licence fee.
- In addition to this NBBC fee, additional expenses will be incurred for vet inspection fees which are compulsory.
- This is a renewable licence and each licence is valid for 12 months.
