Please note that application forms for driver licences should be obtained from the Customer Services Reception Desk. Applicants wishing to submit completed applications should also take these (in person) to the Customer Services Reception Desk.
A licence is required before any person can drive a private hire vehicle. Licences are issued subject to proof of eligibility (age, driving licence, criminal records check, medical assessment, knowledge test etc.).
How to Apply
The Council issues a joint Hackney Carriage/ Private Hire Driver's Licence enabling the holder to drive both types of vehicle.
